In recognition of officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice, we are pleased to host the second annual Police Appreciation Luncheon on May 15, 2021.
We partnered with The Chef's Workshop to offer a complimentary meal to all officers serving Knox County and their families. These were offered by generous donations by the Pannell Family.
Officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice deserve our respect, and we take time to honor them each year.
Our goal is to foster change. We believe that dialogue between law enforcement and the community is the beginning of change that creates a better community.
In addition to honoring our fallen officers, we have invited at-risk youth to join in the luncheon.

Our brave officers put themselves in the face of danger every day, even through a pandemic, to Protect and Serve our community and we can never thank them enough. The decision was made to have a family-atmosphere type gathering, providing lunches for all officers that serve Knox County and their families. The meals were served by some of the very best food trucks in town (including ice cream!). Many comments were made about how long it had been since some officers had even seen one another – just one of the ways they expressed how much the event meant to them. The Chef’s Workshop handled all the logistics (a HUGE effort) and the Pannell Family funded the event.
After the 2020 event, we heard from others asking if they could help fund this and make it an annual event. Therefore, in addition to accepting monetary donations, the 2021 event will also include the following enhancements:

This is a private event, limited to law enforcement personnel and the above mentioned youth. Given the fact that many people expressed a desire to help make this an annual event, this year’s lunches will be funded by donations from members of the community, which will be matched by the Pannell Family. There are a lot of people who would like to show their appreciation for our officers, but don’t have a mechanism with which to do so. If you are one of those folks, please help give our officers this day of food, fun, fellowship and tribute by letting this event be your avenue.
Donations are tax deductible and donors will be provided with Donation Letters from Knoxville Pays It Forward, a registered non-profit organization. Complete financial report will be provided upon request.
